Hand Spun Yarns – Each one of my Hand Spun Yarns tells a story. I spin many of my colorways from wool I’ve processed and dyed myself, or from rolags or batts I’ve blended myself to create truly unique colors and textures in my yarns. I specialize in combining soft wool fibers with durable, silky, eco-friendly plant fibers to create one of a kind blends. I love to explore alternative sources for my wools: The Angora Fiber I use comes from an adorable English Angora Bunny named Luna who is lovingly cared for as a pet by my sister in Upstate NY. I use Romney and Llama wool from animals on local farms that were bred to be eaten and not for their wool, thus giving these fleeces that would otherwise be thrown away a new life! I sometimes process these fleeces myself, or send them to a small family owned mill for processing. When not using my own hand dyed or hand blended fibers, I love to support small, local fiber vendors and dyers. Price per skein: $18-$30 depending on yardage.
Reclaimed Sweater Upcycled/ Recycled Yarns – These yarns are taken from unwanted sweaters donated to me, or saved from Thrift Shops. Each sweater I recycle is first Machine Washed and Dried before I lovingly take it apart, careful to save as much of the yarn as possible. I re-spin the yarn on my spinning wheel to refresh the twist (which really makes it feel like new again!), and then I wash it once more to ensure a truly gratifying craft experience for you! Besides the benefit of doing something good for the environment, these yarns are also highly durable, machine washable, and tend to be softer than brand new yarns. As part of my mission, I also donate a portion of my Upcycled Yarn sales to like minded non- profits, such as FAB scrap in Brooklyn who is also dedicated to addressing textile waste. It’s so fulfilling to be able to do what I love and give back at the same time! Price per skein: $5-$12.
