Fall in love with the classic granny square! In this fun workshop, we’ll cover the basic structure of a traditional granny square, along with simple variations to expand your creativity. You’ll leave with completed squares and the skills to turn them into larger projects like blankets, hats, bags, or even sweaters!
This workshop is best suited for crocheters who are confident with crochet basic stitches, including chains, single crochets, half double crochets, and double crochets.
Required Materials (students bring their own):
- Crochet Hook: Size US H-8/5.0 mm -OR- appropriate hook size for worsted-weight yarn
- Yarn: Two or more colors of economical worsted weight (category 4) yarn. Granny squares are great for stash busting!
- Scissors and a tapestry needle
Katelyn Daly
Katelyn Daly is a CYC Certified Crochet Teacher (Level II) with over 10 years of crochet and knitting experience. She has taught a wide range of classes through Ken-Ton Community Education, from beginner foundations to advanced technique workshops, and recently had the pleasure of teaching at the Fiber + Fabric Festival in Rosemont, IL.
Katelyn is known for her engaging, supportive teaching style and her ability to break down techniques in a way that builds confidence and creativity. Whether students are picking up a hook or needles for the first time or looking to expand their skills, she creates a fun and approachable learning environment.
She is especially excited to return to the WNY Fiber Arts Festival to teach crochet workshops and connect with the local fiber community.
